Update from the Headteacher

14th September 2020
We have had a very positive return to school. Currently our attendance is at 93%, which is fantastic, as the national figure is much lower.
Start and end of the day procedures have improved every day and the students are responding to the new protocols with maturity. There is no doubt things are different, but the school is calm and orderly.
We are going to trial a few tweaks next week- particularly around buses at the end of the day. These are mainly logistical issues that we just need to tidy up.
Lunch has been a particular success, as I do  the whole 1 and 1/2 hour duty, it has been a pleasure to see everyone chatting, eating and making best use of the limited social time they have.
We are following the Department for Education’s advice on track and trace within a school setting, just so you are aware of the process we go through if we get any confirmed cases or a family member tests positive. If this does happen, please let us know immediately and isolate as a family until we have further details from Public Health England.
Next week Year 7 will take some on line CAT tests, these will help us to assess their start points as they were unable to sit SATs this year. Nothing to worry about, or prepare for, we will guide the students through the process.
Enrichment will also be finalised next week and we can then offer a range of activities at the end of the day.
There are other things to let you know about next week, but at the end of a very busy week I would just like to thank you for your cooperation and support.
Your children  are a credit to you.
Stay safe
