Update from the Headteacher

4th March 2021

Thank you so much for your co-operation this week, as we have been making plans and preparing for the mass testing next week. We couldn’t have done it without your support. These links to 2 videos explain the testing procedure and access arrangements- where to park etc.

The system for registering the tests with NHS Test and Trace is quite complex. On Friday 5 March, we will upload all students details including parental email address to the NHS system. We have uploaded everyone who has given us the consent form and those students whom we have not yet received a consent form for. We have not uploaded any student details if you have already let us know that you do not consent to testing.
At some point on Friday you will receive an email from NHS saying that a bar code has been allocated to a testing kit. There is nothing you need to do, this is just confirmation that your child is registered for testing. When your child has completed their Lateral Flow test in school, once the result is registered by us you will receive an email letting you know the outcome.
We will personally contact you by phone if the result is positive or ‘void’, to talk you through next steps. Once we have completed all 3 tests, the government wants parents to home test students twice a week. We have all the home testing kits in school and will work out a method to get them to you . I suspect we may keep school open for an extended day in order for you to be able to come and sign for them. We are not able to send them home with the students. I’m working on this!
Any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

The next logistical hurdle is school lunches.
Dolce our caterers will be operating the Hot and Cold grab bag menu until Easter. Before the Easter holiday, we will send you a new full menu . We have also invested in a better online ordering system, but this won’t be in operation until the summer term. So, we have to revert to the previous ordering system for the 2 weeks from 15 March.
If you want your child to have the grab bag option I need you to send an email to schooldinners@wensleydaleschool.net clearly stating which child you are ordering for, which year group , which days and what they would like. Attached is the grab bag menu- please use week 2 and 3. PLEASE order before Wednesday 10 March to book food for the week of 15 March and again by 17 March for the last week of term. Sadly we cannot offer credit, so Parentpay needs to be updated if you are ordering from Dolce.
If you child has Free school meals, we’ve already got their names in the spreadsheet, we just need you to tell us which options- hot or cold, you wish to opt for. If we don’t hear from you we will automatically issue the Hot grab bag daily. The Co-Op cards will be topped up on Monday 8 March for the last time. However, please keep them safe in case of further lock downs or if your child has to isolate, we can reactivate if necessary.
If you don’t wish to have the Dolce offer, then your child will need a packed lunch. Please also make sure that students have enough water or juice for the day. No break time food will be served, we are keeping this under review and will let you know as restrictions ease when we can reintroduce break time.
Everything in school is ready for next week and we are really looking forward to seeing everyone back. I will keep you updated
Stay Safe
