Parents Mental Health and Wellbeing

27th November 2020

It has come to our attention that as the pandemic  continues our students’, parents and teachers mental health and wellbeing can suffer.

This week we will be sharing our top tips on looking after yourself in lockdown, this is particularly relevant for parents. We know how difficult it can be for parents to manage lockdowns for both you and your children, which is why as a school we want to support you and your family with our best tips.

Set a routine

If you’re working from home and managing children at home too, it can be difficult to find a balance and routine. But establishing a routine with your children can be a great way to feel more in control of the situation. Even if it starts as just setting realistic goals each day, for example cooking tea or a 15 minute walk. It can give you a bit more structure and encourage productivity throughout the day.

Find time to switch off

Finding time for yourself is so important, being able to have your own down time can be so beneficial, whether it’s on an evening by yourself or on your lunch. Creating time for yourself can allow you to reconnect with yourself and not get lost within the hustle and bustle of everything else.

Exercise

Exercise is evidently beneficial in so many different ways. It can improve mental health, energise us and give us more routine to our day. Whether it’s a run, walk or a workout – it can help put you in a good mind set and release those endorphins to uplift you.

It can be difficult to keep positive during these testing times but hopefully following these tips will provide a bit of support.
