Handmade Christmas gifts you can make this year

6th December 2021

Christmas is just around the corner! If you’re looking for some thoughtful presents, maybe you could try making your own this year. We’ve listed a couple of easy-to-make gifts below to get you started.

  1. Christmas tree ornaments

There’s nothing more fun than a festive decoration! Making your own bauble or hanging ornament can be a great way to show you’ve thought about the person you’re celebrating with. You can do this with clay, card, recycled plastics from your cupboard. All you need to do is fasten a loop of ribbon or wire to the top – you can be super creative!

  1. Cookies

Some freshly made biscuits or treats in nice wrapped box will never be a bad present. You can find loads of recipes on BBCGoodFood here.

  1. Marmalade or jam

Have you ever thought about making your own jam or marmalade? If you have some nice jars around the house that you can reuse, this can be a great gift that will definitely not go to waste. You can even make sure to use seasonal fruits such as quince and oranges. There’s a great recipe for orange marmalade here.

  1. Knitted scarf

A nice homemade scarf is a great gift, especially given this chilly time of year. Knitting is actually a lot easier than some people think, and can make for some great presents. There’s a helpful knitting tutorial online here.

  1. Snow globe

To make your own snow globe, all you need is a nice jar, some water, some fake snow and whatever decorations you like! Glue a water-safe tree decoration or a nice laminated photo to the lid of the jar. Fill the jar with fake snow, add water and close. Now you have your own snow globe!
